Fast, Creative, and Cost-Effective: Explore Tinkable’s Custom Stencil Designer
Need a custom stencil, fast? Our Custom Text Stencil Designer is the quickest and least expensive way to get a text stencil made. Type your text, pick a font and material, see the price update as you go, and order.
How it works
- Enter your text and choose your material and size
- We prepare the cut file and send a digital proof, usually within one to two business days
- Once you approve it, we laser cut your stencil
- Dispatched within two business days, tracked, with free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $99
The designer handles bridging automatically — the small connecting pieces that hold the centre of an O or A in place. Our minimum bridge width is 1.8mm, and the tool keeps your lettering above that so it survives handling and cleaning.
Choosing a material
Each material has different size limits, which is usually what decides it:
| Material | Maximum size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mylar 0.35mm | 1400mm wide, continuous length | The allrounder. Durable, flexible enough for curved surfaces, holds clean lines through hundreds of uses. |
| Mylar 0.19mm | 1400mm wide, continuous length | Finer detail and tighter curves, where reuse matters less than crispness. |
| Polypropylene | 2200mm × 1240mm sheets | Lightweight and cost-effective for long single-piece designs, within the sheet size. |
| MDF and plywood | Sheet sizes vary | Rigid stencils for repeated floor marking or anything that gets walked on. |
| Adhesive vinyl | Sheet sizes vary | Single use, for the crispest possible edge on an irregular surface. |
Mylar comes on 1400mm × 120m rolls and our laser bed takes the full width with a pass-through, so a single continuous piece can run to whatever length the job needs. Polypropylene comes in fixed 2200mm × 1240mm sheets, so anything beyond that is tiled across multiple registered pieces.
Not sure which to pick? Mylar versus polypropylene compares the two in use, and choosing the right thickness covers the next decision.
Cost and design help
Minor design tweaks are free. More substantial preparation carries a small fee, quoted before we start. Stencils resist water, stains and scratches, and wash clean between uses — the cost per use on a reusable Mylar stencil is low even for a one-off project.
Every order comes with a digital proof before cutting, and a full refund if the proof is not right.
When the designer is not the right tool
The designer covers text only. For logos, artwork, images or multi-layer work, use our custom Mylar stencil product and upload your file, or email info@tinkable.com.au for a free quote. For murals, floor marking and signage at scale, see large custom stencils.
